لم يكد يضع كفه فوق قبة الصندوق حتى سرت في بدنه رجفة عنيفة. كأن يدًا كانت تفتح الباب له وتدعوه للدخول إلى صناديق أخرى كثيرة العتبات والأبواب والأقفال والمفاتيح، يحتاج الحج إليها لقدسيات شى لا يملك منها غير أرواحه المادية الشيوعية الخيرة واليسوعية النيرة ب"سراج العين" و"البشارة كما دوَّنها لوقا": ما من أحد يوقد سراجًا ويضعه في مخبأ أو تحت المكيال، بل في مكان مرتفع ليستنير به الداخلون. سراج الجسد هو العين. فإن كانت عينك سليمة، كان جسدك كله منيرًا. وإن كانت عينك مريضة، كان جسدك كله مظل .ًام فانتبه، لئال يصير النور الذي فيك ظلامًا. فإن كان جسدك كله منيرًا، ولا أثر للظلام فيه، أنار بأكمله كما لو أنار لك السراج بضوئه".
