لا يمكن الإجابة بسهولة على سؤال كيف ومتى بدأت أحداث هذه الرواية. ولكن جريمة قتل شابة حدثت في نهايات العام ٢٠١٢ في مدينة رام الله غدت بؤرة كل شيء. على وقع الجريمة أدرك كل من رؤوف، ونور، ووسام، أنها ستكون أهم حدث في حياتهم، وستدمغ ما قبلها وما بعدها. لم تكن مجرد حدث مركزي في مسار حياتهم، بل لحظة حرّضت رؤوف على العودة للنظر إلى الخلف، إلى ما مضى ليعيد تفسيره مرة أخرى وبطريقة مختلفة. أما بالنسبة لنور فأصبحت الحدث الخاطف الذي يدفع بكلّ شيء إلى مواجهة مفتوحة. أما وسام فكانت الجريمة سؤالاً مفتوحاً في رأسه لم يحتمله. ثلاث شخصيات شابة من جيل ما بعد الانتفاضة الفلسطينية الثانية، يعيشون مختارين في حيوات متوازية مع كل ما حولهم من مجتمع وسياسية وقضايا كبرى، وحين يحدث التقاطع الوحيد إثر جريمة القتل تبدأ نسخة أخرى مختلفة من حياتهم تتتبعها الرواية بين ماض وحاضر ومستقبل تذوب الحدود بينها.
