خطبُ الإمامِ مملّةٌ والمؤذّنُ عاشق. يستعين الأخير بمعلّم التربية الرياضيّة لتحسين أداء الخطيب وجذْب المصلّين، وللوصول إلى محبوبته التي يسمع صوتها ولا يراها. عينُ الإمام على المسجد الكبير الذي يجري بناؤه، وقلبُ المؤذّن على البيت الخامس بعد المسجد المتهالك، حيث تقيم محبوبته. تشتعل كلمات الخطيب غضباً وثورة وتطرّفاً، فيلتمّ الناس حوله... يختفي فجأة من الحيّ مع عائلته، ولكن أيضاً تختفي محبوبة المؤذّن، الذي ضاع بين خوفه على إمامه ولوعات عشقه الغريب.
