Book Description
كان يوم الإثنين 1947/4/30 يوماً ربيعيّاً مشرقاً من أيّام حلب. الشمس تحتجب وراء غيوم بيضاء هادئة، وتسمح بتمرير الدفء الذي دعا كثيراً من الناس إلى ترك متعلّقاتهم في ذلك العصر، والخروج للتريّض حول النهر، في الموقع الذي سيصير بعد سنوات حديقة عامّة من أشهر حدائق الشرق، تحاكي حدائق قصر (فرساي) الخلاّبة.
تقع الحديقة في حيّ العزيزيّة، الذي يحتلّ قلب المدينة، وتطلّ على طرفها الشماليّ، باتّجاه محطّة القطار، شرفةُ الفيلاّ الأنيقة ذات الحجر الورديّ الحلبيّ، التي تعود ملكيّتها إلى المحامي بهجت الحفّار.
ساعتان لا أكثر، تواطأت سماء نيسان مع المتنزّهين، بعدها أبرقت وأرعدت، وجاد المُزن بمائه، حين رنّ هاتف بهجت بيك رنيناً متواصلاً. دخلت مديحة خانم زوجته، بصينيّة عليها فنجانا القهوة المسائيّان، وكأس ماء، ومزهريّة صغيرة فيها زهرتا فُلّ ناصعتا البياض. كان زوجها قد أغلق للتوّ سمّاعة الهاتف، وغادرت الطمأنينة ملامحه. انتظرها حتّى ترتاح في جلستها، وتضع القهوة أمامه. أخذ رشفة من فنجانه، وفعلت مثله. ثمّ قال بصوته الرزين:
- جهّزي نفسك والأولاد، سنرحل إلى دمشق.
اضطربت مديحة خانم قليلاً، لكنّها حافظت على ثباتها، فقد أعدّت نفسها منذ أيّام لاستقبال مثل هذا الخبر، بل كانت جاهزة لحالات الطوارئ، منذ أن أوغل زوجها في درب السياسة.
