من أقوال الكاتب في مؤلفه الطريف: «... فأنا يا سيدي كاتب مصري تخرجت في كلية الآداب وتخصصت في الفلسفة وأصدرت 215 كتابًا وترجمت ثلاثين مسرحية وألفت عشر مسرحيات ولي عشرون مسلسلاً وأكتب بابًا يوميًّا اسمه (مواقف) في صحيفة الأخبار والآن في الأهرام من أربعين عامًا، ورأست تحرير عدد كبير من المجلات ورأست مجلس إدارة دار المعارف والآن رئيس تحرير مجلة الكاتب المصري التي كان يرأسها طه حسين، وأنا عضو بمجلس الشورى من ثلاثة وعشرين عامًا وعضو المجلس الأعلى للثقافة والمجلس الأعلى للصحافة ومجلس إدارة الهيئة المصرية للكتاب وأخيرًا مستشار الأمم المتحدة للتنمية الاجتماعية وحصلت على العديد من الجوائز وحججت سبع مرات وكانت أطول رحلاتي (حول العالم في 200 يوم) وأعرف مجموعة من اللغات. ولا أدعي يا سيدي أن كلماتي قد نظر إليها الأعمى ولا قد أسمعت من به صمم كما يقول المتنبي.. هذا أنا.. وأعوذ بالله من يوم لا أقول فيه أنا! ».
