Maxwell ) ولد عام 1947 في جاردن سيتي ولاية ميتشيغان و هو خبير قيادة ومتحدث ومؤلف معروف عالمياً، الّف أكثر من 60 كتاباً، وبيعت من كتبه أكثر من 13 مليون نسخة. وماكسويل هو أحد المؤلفين التي ظهرت أعماله ضمن الكتب الأكثر مبيعاً تبعاً لتقييم صحف نيويورك تايمز ووول ستريت جورنال وبيزنس ويك وقد اطلق عليه موقع leadershipgurus لقب "خبير القيادة الأول في العالم"، كما أن ماكسويل كان أيضا واحدا من 25 مؤلفا وفنانا فقط تم وضع اسمائهم في قائمة شرف العام العاشر لمؤسسة امازون دوت كوم
نبذة عن حياته
حصل على بكالوريس من جامعة أوهايوا كريستين في عام 1969م. أكدت صحيفة نيويورك تايمز أنه الكاتب صاحب أعلى مبيعات في العالم وذلك بعد كتابه العظيم الفشل البناء وتحويل الفشل إلى جسر للنجاح.

طوال حياتي وأنا أدرس التفكير الجيد، لذا أعرف مدى أهميته لإحراز التقدم. في الكتاب الأول الذي كتبته عام 1979، بعنوان Think on These Things، قلت: "حياتك اليوم هي نتاج تفكيرك بالأمس. وحياتك غدًا سيحددها ما تفكر فيه اليوم".1 وقد استوحيت عنوان هذا الكتاب من كلمات الحكيم، الذي يحثنا قائلًا:
كل ما هو حق، كل ما هو جليل، كل ما هو عادل، كل ما هو طاهر، كل ما هو مبهج، كل ما هو جدير بالإطراء، إن كانت فيه فضيلة وإن كان جديرًا بالمدح، هذه هي الأمور التي يجدر أن تفكروا فيها.2
كثيرًا ما كان والدي، ملفين ماكسويل، يقتبس هذه الكلمات في حديثه معي. لقد كان يشعر أنها مهمة. لماذا؟ لأنه كان مثالًا لشخص غير حياته بتغيير تفكيره.
لو قابلت والدي، سيخبرك أنه وُلد بميل غريزي للتفكير بشكل سلبي. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، فقد شب خلال الكساد الاقتصادي، وعندما كان في السادسة من عمره، توفت والدته. إنه لم يكن طفلًا سعيدًا أو متفائلًا. لكن في سنوات مراهقته، بدأ يرى أن هناك قاسمًا مشتركًا بين جميع الناجحين الذين يعرفهم: لقد كانوا يملئون حياتهم بأفكار إيجابية عن أنفسهم والآخرين. وكان يتوق لأن يكون ناجحًا مثلهم، لذا شرع في مهمة يومية تتمثل في تغيير تفكيره. ولسعادته، بعد الكثير من الوقت والجهد، غيره تفكيره.
الأشخاص الذين يعرفون والدي اليوم يروه شخصًا إيجابيًا تمامًا. وسيدهشهم معرفة أنه بدأ حياته بعقلية سلبية. هذا التغيير في تفكيره أتاح له أن يرتقي إلى مستوى حياة كان يبدو أنه يفوق إمكانياته. فقد أصبح أكثر الأشخاص نجاحًا في دائرته المهنية. كما شغل منصب رئيس كلية ولمس حياة عدد لا يحُصى من الناس. حتى اليوم هو بطلي.
