«هذا الكتاب، إذ يلتمس في النص الشعريّ أطيافاً من دلالاته وملامحه، لا يدّعي القبض على المعنى الأخير، ولا يؤمن بإمكان ذلك، كما لا يؤمن بوحدانيّة الحقيقة الشعريّة في النص.» بهذه العبارة تستهلّ الكاتبة قراءتها النقدية لمختارات من نصوص شعرية لكلٍّ من: أنسي الحاج، عباس بيضون، زلَيخة أبو ريشة، أمجد ناصر، عبد العزيز المقالح، وديع سعادة، عبد المنعم رمضان، عبده وازن، حسب الشيخ جعفر، محمد بنيس، جودت فخر الدين وسنية صالح، نافيةً عن نفسها ادّعاء الإحاطة أو الاستنفاد، وذلك لأنّ «كلّ قراءة جديدة مغامرةٌ واكتشاف؛ لأنها، هي بدورها، فعلٌ وتفاعلٌ وأثر».
وقد عمدت الكاتبة، في قراءتها النقدية لهذه النصوص، تجنّب الممارسة النقدية بالمفهوم الأكاديمي، والابتعاد عن الأحكام والتوصيفات القاطعة، لتتفاعل، بدلاً من ذلك، مع النصوص كفنّان، باللجوء إلى ما أسمته «فنّ القراءة». وبالتالي، لا تُعتبَر هذه القراءة محطة نهائية وإنما هي دعوة للرحيل مع الأثر الشعري، عبر الإصغاء والتماس الظلال والاستجابة للرؤى والإيحاءات.
