لم يكن الأستاذ في حياته يهتم بوصف الآخرين له أو رأيهم فيه ولا بمدى إعجابهم به أو سخطهم عليه، إنه في الحقيقة لم ينشغل أبدا بحوار الناس عنه وحوله بل كان منشغلًا جدًا بحواره هو مع ذاته عن الناس في كل الأزمنة وعند كبرى الأحداث وفي مفترق الطرق التي تسلكه الأمم في رحلاتها الطويلة العميقة الصعبة، لم يكن ذلك غرورًا أو تعاليًا منه ولم يكن اكتفاءًا بالذات أو انطواءًا على النفس، لم يكن هذا سوى مظهر ثقافي وطبع فلسفي وإحساس بتعاظم الدور الذي أهلته الأقدار لذلك العقل وهذا الوجدان وهو بالطبع لا يتكلف شيئا من تداعيات الالتزام بآداء هذا الدور المفروض بل والمنشود ذلك لإن المواهب الكبرى (الكبرى بحق) تفهم جيدًا رسائل القدر إليها وتتعرف بسهولة وجدية إلى الأدوار المنوطة بها والتي ينبغي عليها أن تجتهد أيما اجتهاد وأن تلتزم أيما التزام في سبيل تحقيق رسالتها المعرفية، ومهما قال الأستاذ أو قال غيره فهو قد أدرك من قديم عمق الموهبة وقدرة العقل النافذة وعلم يقينًا أن الرحلة مهما كان حسابها بالسنين ينبغي أن يكون وزنها بالمعارف والمدارك وما خطه القلم على الورق وليس ما نحتته الظروف والأحداث على الجبين.
