انتهى به الأمر تحت السور. وسوره هو غير مقهى "تحت السور" الذي كان يجلس فيه أدباء تونس ومثقفوها في زمن الاستعمار الفرنسي. بل هو سور غير مثقف، وغير مهذّب، لا يرتجل شعراً ولا يرتاد ندواتٍ أدبية: إنه سور العاجزين!
استقرّ على الرصيف، يحتضن بيديه كومة من رسائل كتبها إلى أسيل منذ أن هاجرت قبل عشرين سنة. يقول الناس إنه مجنون؛ إنه مجرم؛ هارب من مصح عقلي أو فارّ من العدالة. ذلك أنهم لا يعرفون حكايته، ولا يعرفون حكاية أسيل...
