يستعدّ "جبران الصغير" للسفر، فصديقته في مانشستر تلحّ عليه بالإسراع في العودة إلى الجامعة. لكنّه ما زال يطرح على أمّه أبسط الأسئلة وأصعبها: من أنتِ؟... أريد أن أعرف سارة التي يقولون عنها متمرّدة.
ما عاد "جبران الصغير" صغيراً. وما عاد "جبران الكبير"، الذي أحبّه كما لم يحبّ رجلٌ ابناً من صُلبه، يجلس في كرسيّه المعتاد قرب النافذة. اختطفه الموت، تاركاً "المتمرّدة" لحزنها القديم، و"الصغير" لمستقبل يصنعه وماضٍ يجهله.
أتخبر سارة ابنَها عن الطبيب الذي فقد معها عذريّته، وكَبّله الدِّين بالذنب؟ أتخبره عن خالد الذي علّمها فنّ القُبلة، وصار عائلتها منذ استشهاد والدها وتخلّي أمها عنها، ثم خذلها وتزوج بأخرى؟
ماذا تخبره عن سارة، وهو الذي - مذ كان جنيناً - يرسم دنياها ويُحكِم قَيدَها. منذ تلك اللحظة، أفلتت منها سارة، كما لو أنها نسيتها. لكنّها عزمت أخيراً على التذكُّر...
