من حظ سمية محنش أن تظهر مع التحول الكبير الذي عرفته القصيدة النسائية في الجزائر، كان الشعر النسوي، إلى ما قبل سنوات، يكتفي بقصيدة النثر التي تشبه الخاطرة غالباً، والتي صعب على الدارسين الإعتراف بشعريتها، حتى ظهرت، في العقد الأخير، مجموعة من الشاعرات، وسمية منهن، شكلن ثورة حقيقية، ودفعن بالشعر إلى كثير من النضج والتألق.
