تحاول هذه الدراسة الإفادة من المنهجيات الحديثة في قراءة النصّ القصصي، والعمل على فكّ مغاليقه من خلال ما تتيحه من توصيف نظري وممارسة تقوم على الكشف والتحليل، وتقصٍ في داخل النصّ وخارجه بما تقتضيه طبيعة الكتابة السردية.
ارتبط إنتاج القصة العراقية القصيرة بفعل تاريخي وسمَ دلالاتها بأهداف وغايات اجتماعية وسياسية، ولازمَ عطاءها الإبداعي لثلاثة عقود، ظلت فيه بنيتها النصية منغلقة على ما تمخضت به تلك التغييرات وأفرزته على الصعد كافة، إذ أسهمت القصة منذ نشوئها بإرساء الوعي الفكري واستجابت لمتطلبات الحراك الاجتماعي في أكثر مراحله خطورة، وإن ما تحقق عبر هذا الالتزام، كان مبعثه هيمنة ذات الجماعة وسطوتها، في ظل ظروف تنافست فيها القصة مع الشعر، المكوّن الأهم في الثقافة العراقية الحديثة إلى جانب المكونات الأُخر، لإنجاز دور فاعل في حركة المجتمع. فالانغلاق النصي ظاهرة لازمت مرحلة البدايات، لعنايتها بالتعبير عن صوت الجماعة، ولأنها كانت تهدف إلى ترسيخ الكتابة القصصية على وفق بنية تقليدية تتلاءم وطبيعة تطور الواقع والأدب. فقد شكّل هذا السياق سمة ظاهرة لم يقيض لها الاستمرار طويلاً، حيث أعقبها تحول في طبيعة القص جاءت به مرحلة الخمسينيات، بداية الانعطاف الفني الذي حدد مهاماً جديدة، تنسجم وخصوصيتها كتجربة ظلت بحاجة إلى أن تتأمل ذاتها، إذ غدتْ تحولاتها الإبداعية مصدر إثراء لها، عززتْ من وجودها وجعلته محركاً أساسياً لطبيعتها الأدبية، تلك التغييرات التي لحقت بنية النصّ، أدت إلى كسر السياق التقليدي، وتأسيس نمط جديد من الكتابة يتوافق مع ما تمّ إنجازه على صعيد الواقع والفكر والثقافة، وأحدثت شرخاً في التراكم الكمي للجنس، مطلقةً أسئلتها في فضاء الإبداع، وهي أسئلة تضمنت تحوّلات الواقع والمعرفة من جهة، وما طرأ على النصّ من اختلاف في طبيعة العلاقة بين العناصر ووظائفها والشكل الملائم لها. هذه الاستجابة الواعية لتطوّر بنية النصّ الداخلية، جاءت نتيجة لطبيعة الصراع ومرونة الشكل في تضييف ثيمات وبنى من حقول مجاورة، حققت بتفاعلها وانسجامها بعداً دلالياً جديداً.
