بعد إحراق منزل والده، واتّهام والدته بالزنى وتهجير عائلته، يجد الملثّم نفسه شريداً يبحث عن أمّه في أصقاع اليمن المنقسم الذي يعيش مخاض ثورة لتوحيده. في مساجد صنعاء يتعلّم الدين قبل أن يلتحق بالمدرسة الداخلية حيث سيكتشف عالماً أساسه الغريزة الجنسية. من الاتّهام بتشكيل خلايا معارضة لنظام الإمامة، إلى الاعتقال والهرب ومحاولة الانتقام لماضيه، حياة غنية ومثيرة يعيشها الملثّم الثائر. رواية تغوص في قاع المجتمع اليمني باحثةً في المسكوت عنه أثناء مخاض طويل لثورة تسعى للقضاء على الملكية وتأسيس الجمهورية.
