"بعد القهوة، يصفها مؤلفها الدكتور عبد الرشيد الصادق محمودي فى عنوان فرعي بأنها ثلاثية روائية، تدور أحداث الجزء الأول منها “قاتلة الذئب” في قرية “القواسمة” بمحافظة الشرقية في مصر، أما الجزء الثاني “الخروف الضال” فتدور أحداثه في مدينتي الإسماعيلية في منطقة القنال، وأبوكبير في محافظة الشرقية، فيما تدور أحداث الجزء الثالث “البرهان” في “فيينا” عاصمة النمسا والرابط الرئيسي بين هذه الأماكن المتباينة مسيرة طويلة يقطعها بطل الرواية “مدحت” بدءًا من طفولته بقرية “أولاد قاسم”، مرورًا بصباه الأول وتعلمه في الإسماعيلية وأبوكبير، حتى ينتهى به الأمر إلى الإقامة فى فيينا مرتين: الأولى بعد التحاقه بالسلك الدبلوماسي – وقد شهدت المدينة عندئذ ولادة روايته الأولى وفشل زواجه، ومرة أخرى بعد عقدين من الزمان. فلماذا عاد إلى فيينا؟
