حصل على دبلوم الدراسات العليا في اللغة العربية وآدابها من كلية الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية بفاس سنة 1987.
كما أحرز على دكتوراه الدولة في الآداب من جامعة السوربون بباريس سنة 1990.
يشتغل أستاذا جامعيا.
بدأ أحمد المديني النشر سنة 1967 بجريدة العلم.
التحق باتحاد كتاب المغرب سنة 1972.
يتوزع إنتاجه بين القصة القصيرة، الشعر، النقد الأدبي والترجمة.

حين أجر خطوي في سكينة الليل، وتحت انطفاء النجوم عائدًا إلى مثواي الأول والأخير، أي خلوتي مع أسرار الفصل المبجل، تنحني فوق كتفي أشجار باريس وأتحزم بأوراق الريح تنبت حول جسدي جناحين فأطير مطوفًا بالبلدان والأزمان، لا أبالي بالزمن الأخير، فكلما حل الخريف أعود لما كنت فيه،أستعيد باريس من البداية، وهي تفك خيوط نولها لتعيد النسج، هكذا سأبقى، وفي كل مرة تشعرني باريس أنني أكبر، ولا أشيخ، انتظر العمر القادم أبدًا.
