يسعى كل منا في حياته لتحقيق غايته المرجوة، وأهدافه المنشودة، يدخل معترك الصراعات ويخوض غمار الحروب لتحقيق هذه الغاية، وعلى اختلاف دوافعنا، ومعتقداتنا، وأفكارنا، نسعى جميعا لغاية واحدة، وهي: «السعادة»، السعادة التي حرمها الناس طويلا، فازدادوا شوقا اليها، واصرارا على المواصلة لتحقيقها. والسعادة في حقيقتها هي تطور متتابع نحو حالة تكتمل عندها كل القوى كاملة وافية بأقل ما يمكن من المقاومة والألم. وليست الفاجعة في عدم بلوغ هذه الغاية، انما الصعوبة الموجعة هي عدم وجود الغاية، وكاتبتنا المبدعة هنا «مي زيادة» تخاطب المرأة العربية في هذه المحاضرة، وتعايشها آلامها، وتحاول أن تصف لها الدواء ببث روح جديدة في عروقها، وحثها على البحث عن غاياتها التي أضاعتها وهي أقرب اليها من أيِ شيء.
