استلهم الكاتب من شخصية الفتاة اللبنانية التي عشقها وحي مناجاته مع القمر، وأراد أن يعلم الطلاب فن البلاغة والانشاء من خلال تلك المناجاة. فالكاتب في هذا الكتاب ينزل القمر من علياء السماء كي يرى فيه صورة المحبوبة بأسلوب يفصح عن نفيس الدر في فن الانشاء؛ فهو يتخذ من وجه القمر آية يفند فيها دلائل الاعجاز الجمالي في هذا الوجود الرباني. فيستنطق بحديثه مع القمر لسان الطالب ببدائع اللفظ الانشائي، وقد وفق الكاتب في اصطفائه للقمر؛ كي يرسم على صفحته ابداع الخالق ويستقي من جماله القيم الانسانية والأخلاقية والدينية. وذلك لأن القمر الساكن في أفق الليل هو خير صديقٍ تودعه النفس آلامها وأحزانها.
