بما أن دراستي عن الاستشراق فسيكون حديثي مقتصرا عليه فالاستشراق مؤسسة علمية في جوهرها وحقيقة أمرها وجدت لحرب الإسلام والكيد له. كيف لا ، والاستشراق حركة ولدت في أحضان التبشير، وشبت ورضعت وترعرعت من الاستعمار، وأخيرا لبست مسوح رهبان العلم. ولا أحد ينكر أن الاستشراق نجح في مهمته نجاحا كبيرا، وحقق كثيرا من أهدافه التي كان لها أعظم الأثر على العالمين العربي والإسلامي من جهة والغربي من جهة أخرى. ففي المجتمعات العربية والإسلامية سبب الاستشراق ردة فكرية عن الإسلام ونجح المستشرقون في إيجاد طبقة من المسلمين مخدوعة بأفكارهم وآرائهم، وذلك باستقطاب الآلاف من شباب المسلمين للجامعات الغربية طمعا في الألقاب العلمية، فرجع هؤلاء الطلاب متأثرين بثقافة الغرب ومناهجه وأساليب تفكيره. كما كتب الغرب آلاف الكتب، وعشرات الآلاف من الأبحاث والمقالات والتي ما زال كثير من أساتذتنا ومفكرينا يعتمدون عليها، ذاكرين ذلك صراحة في بعض الأحيان، وكاتمين لها في معظم أوقاتهم. هذا بمجموعه أدى لإيجاد ردة فكرية في عالمنا الإسلامي كما ذكرت وحال دون تطبيق شريعة الإسلام وأحكامها في المجتمعات الإسلامية. أما تأثيره على العالم الغربي فهو الحيلولة بين الغربيين وبين الإسلام العظيم، وذلك بتشويه صورة الإسلام في نظر الغربيين الذين لا يعرفونه إلا عن طريق مؤلفات المستشرقين وكلامهم عنه.
