لورنس العرب صانع الملوك ملك الجزيرة غير المتوج .. أسماء رنانة حملها البريطاني توماس إدوارد لورنس الذي تحولت سيرة حياته إلى ما يشبه الأساطير، عبر ملحمة حربية خلدها الدهر إبان مجريات الحرب العالمية الأولى. وضمن إطار الثورة العربية الكبرى ضد الاتراك 1916 – 1918. التي أفضت إلى هزيمة الألمان والأتراك وانهيار الدولة العثمانية نهائيا. وإذا رحنا نعدد الكتب والمؤلفات والدراسات والأفلام العالمية التي وضعت عن حياته وإنجازاته. لوقعنا في دوامة كبيرة ولضاق بنا المجال. تحمل سيرة حياة هذا الرجل الكثير والكثير من المغامرات والمبالغات والمفارقات. ولم يكن أقل منها موته بحداث دراجة نارية في عام 1935. بغية دراسة تاريخ هذا الشخص الاستثنائي، وإضافة كتب مفيدة وشائقة عن مغامراته في بلادنا، رأينا أن من الأفضل عدم الركون إلى ترجمة دراسات عنه وضعها آخرون. بل تقديم كتابيه الشهيرين: (( أعمدة الحكمة السبعة)) و((ثورة في الصحراء)). والثاني طبعة مختصرة ومعدلة عن كتابه الأول. فها نحن أولاء نشرع بالكتاب الثاني. واعدين بترجمة الأول. مع تصحيح الكثير من الأغلاط الفادحة في أسماء الأشخاص والأماكن التي وردت في الترجمات العربية السابقة. ولو لم يكن الكتاب يستحق إعادة النظر، لما كنا لنفعل ذلك أصلا.
