فهد عبد الرحمن ناصر الشميمري رجل أعمال وكاتب سعودي، ومؤسس شبكة المجد الفضائية ذات التوجه الإسلامي ورئيسها لمدة عشر سنوات.

ولد عام 1390 هـ الموافق 1970م في مكة المكرمة، وتخرج من جامعة الملك سعود بالرياض بكالوريوس تخصص الحاسب الآلي عام 1992م، وقام بتأسيس مجموعة المجد التجارية بالمشاركة، ولها استثمارات متعددة مثل أسواق المجد بالرياض 1997م، عمل عضو مجلس إدارة وشريك في العديد من الشركات في قطاعات الاتصالات والإعلام والاستثمار العقاري. عمل الشميمري في مهنة التعليم لمدة سنة واحدة في تدريس مادة الحاسب الآلي لطلاب المرحلة الثانوية بالرياض، ثم تولى مهمة الأمين العام للهيئة الإسلامية العالمية للإعلام التابعة لرابطة العالم الإسلامي في الفترة من 2003 إلى 2005م.

التربية الإعلامية هي اتجاه عالمي جديد، يختص بتعليم أفراد الجمهور مهارة التعامل مع الإعلام، وذلك لأن الإعلام ووسائل الاتصال الحديثة أصبحت هي الموجه الأكبر، والسلطة المؤثرة، على القيم والمعتقدات والتوجهات والممارسات، في مختلف الجوانب، اقتصاديا وثقافيا واجتماعيا. وتعد منظمة (اليونسكو) أكبر داعم عالمي للتربية الإعلامية، وتدعم الكثير من الأنشطة والفعاليات في هذا المجال، ووثائق أنشطة (اليونسكو) تعد التربية الإعلامية جزءا من الحقوق الأساسية لكل مواطن، في كل بلد من بلدان العالم، وتوصي بضرورة إدخال التربية الإعلامية ضمن المناهج التربوية الوطنية، وضمن أنظمة التعليم غير الرسمية، والتعلم مدى الحياة. والتربية الإعلامية ليست ''مشروع دفاع" يهدف إلى الحماية فحسب، بل هي ''مشروع تمكين" أيضا، يهدف إلى إعداد أفراد الجمهور لفهم الثقافة الإعلامية التي تحيط بهم، وحسن الانتقاء والاختيار منها، وتعلم كيفية التعامل معها، والمشاركة فيها، بصورة فعالة ومؤثرة. وهذا الكتاب يمثل تجربة عربية أولى، ومحاولة تطبيقية مبتكرة، لبلورة مفاهيم التربية الإعلامية ضمن إطار منهجي، يهدف إلى تزويد القارئ بمهارة التعامل مع الإعلام، فهما.. واختيارا.. واستهلاكا.. وإنتاجا.
