إن مراحل إعادة بناء القوات المسلحة وإقامة قاعدة الصواريخ وحرب الاستنزاف، هي الركائز التي مهدت لحرب أكتوبر وكل منها ملحمة ينبغي ان تسجل بكل تفاصيلها وتضحياتها من الأموال والأنفس، وكانت الملحمة الرابعة هي الضرب في العمق، ومنها ضرب مدرسة بحر البقر ومنطقة الخانكة وأبي زعبل وقناطر نجع حمادي – وفي النهاية لم يبق لهم من سبيل للانتقام من العمليات الناجحة في حرب الاستنزاف إلا الاعتداء بالغارات الجوية على مدن القناة: بورسعيد والإسماعيلية والسويس، والملحمة الخامسة كانت تهجير أهل مدن القناة الثلاثة؛ حيث بلغ عدد المهجرين إلى ما يقرب من مليون ونصف المليون. وبذلك لم يبق للعدو أي مجال للانتقام، وأصبحت عملية التهجير هي بمثابة العبور إلى الهدف الذي تحقق في العاشر من رمضان الموافق 6 أكتوبر 1973....
