حوى هذا الكتاب بين دفتيه سردا لأحداث المستعمرات الإيطالية حسب تسلسلها الزمني فهو لا يعدو ان يكون مرجعا متواضعا قد يعود بالفائدة على المهتم بتاريخ مجريات أمورنا في المستعمرات. لقد سبق وأن أصدرت بعض المؤلفات من هذا النوع إلا أنها اقتصرت على فترات زمنية محدودة وعلى جوانب معينة من الوقائع والأحداث، أما عملنا هذا فهو أوسع نطاقا وأعم وقد تعمدنا فيه عدم إعطاء اعتبار لبعض الترابط التاريخي والزمني بين أحداث معينة وقسمنا السرد المتسلسل زمنيا للوقائع طبقا لخطة محددة تهدف إلى تيسير عملية المراجعة فجاء مرتبا حسبما ورد موضحا في الفهرست. وقد ذكرن عند السرد الكامل للعمليات العسكرية العديدة التي دارت في مستعمراتنا أسماء القادة والفصائل التي قادوها في أهم المعارك وأبرزها او شاركوا فيها، كما أشرت بنوع خاص إلى أولئك الذين تميزوا وبرزوا على نحو استحقوا معه التشريف بمنحهم الوسام الذهبي للشجاعة العسكرية. وقد أدرجت في هذا التأليف أهم المعاهدات والمواثيق والاتفاقات الدولية التي سبقت أو صاحبت توسعنا الاستعماري كما أدرجت فيه عمليات الاستكشاف والرحلات التي تمت في أراضينا وكذلك بعض الوقائع والأحداث التي وإن كانت جرت خارج مملكتنا الاستعمارية إلا أنه كان لها فيها رد فعل إما عسكري أو سياسي أو اقتصادي، كما ذكرت فيه تواريخ وأخبار تتعلق بموضوعات شتى ومن ذلك مثلا أسماء وزراء ووكلاء وزارات تعاقبوا على وزارة المستعمرات ولاة للمستعمرات وقادة جيوشها المختلفة والتغييرات الهامة والتعديلات التي جرى إدخالها تباعا على أحكام النظم المطبقة في المستعمرات.
