عندما التقينا لأول مرة أنا وسلطانة، كنا في نعومة العمر والحواس، أقسمنا كأي عاشقين نائمين في فقاعة الشوق الجميل، أن نورث أبناءنا كل الضوء الذي أحاطنا وأصابنا بدفئه في القلوب، ونبعدهم عن كل الظلام الذي دخلنا في غفلة منا. لكي لا يلبسوه ولا يورثوه لذريتنا. لكن بين الأشواق والحقيقة حرائق مثل الجبال. أحاول أن أختزل الزمن. فالعمر المتبقي لم يعد كافياً للصعود من جديد إلى هضبة الجنون.
أحاول ان أمسكه، وأنظر في وجهه الذي غابت عنه كل التجاعيد، لكن الزمن يفلت من يدي، كمشة رمل ناشف وماء زلال. هو هو يسبقني دائماً حيث أظن أني وصلت قبله. كلما فتحت عيني وتصورت أني، على الأقل، لحقت به، وجدته قد هرب مني وتجاوزني بخطوتين. لا ينتظرني أبداً. سرعته قاسية، لمح من الهواء الساخن الذي ينسحب حتى قبل أن تفتح عينيك. حرقة، رمشة، لمحة ضوء تتأرجح في الأفق كالبرق الذي يخطف الأبصار ويهرب. لم أصل بعد إلى تلك الظلمة القاسية التي تسرقني من ساعتي، ما تزال ساعتي بعيدة أو على الأقل ضائعة في المدارات. تتحرك بالسرعة التي تشاء. أشتهيها أحياناً أن تثقل من خطاها فقط بالسرعة التي تشاء. لا لأشبع من الحياة، فأنا شره لدرجة الجنون، ولن أشبع منها أبداً، لكن فقط، أن تمنحني فرصة لاحتضان ذاكرتي في عز اشتعالها.
