بدأت الكاتبة الكتاب بمقدمة بسيطة حيث أكدت على أن الرجل أسير المرأة وليس العكس وأن المرأة بطبعها وحنانها مثل العصفور الصغير الذي يبحث عن مكان هادئ يعيش فيه بعد أن يرهقها طول المشوار فتبحث عن مكان تجد فيه الحب والاطمئنان وراحة البال, وفي رأيها أن المرأة بدون الرجل وبدون عطفه وحبه وحنانه ورجولته تصبح كالأرض البور، ولكن مع الرجل يتجدد الأمل ونرى المرأة دائما متجددة مشرقة حساسة وعطوفة وتحاول أن تعبر للرجل بكل الطرق أنها الإنسانة العطوفة الحنونة الخيرة وهذا شيء جميل يحتاج له كل إنسان بالفطرة.
وأنهت الكاتبة المقدمة بدعوتها للتعرف على المعاني الجميلة والنصائح الغالية للتوصل إلى الحلول لمشاكل المرأة مع الرجل حتى نستمتع بالحياة وجمالها وبريقها ونستنشق عبير الحب والعطاء والدفء.
وأكدت الكاتبة على حقيقة مهمة وهى أننا نقضي العمر كله نبحث عن شيء لا نعرف كيف نحدده بالضبط فنحاول البحث عنه في الآخرين، ثم نكتشف أخيرا أننا كنا نبحث عن أنفسنا, حيث أننا غالبا نبحث في الآخرين عما ينقصنا لنكمل به نقصنا وهذا هو الخطأ لأننا لابد أن نكون أنفسنا ونحاول أن نعوض ما ينقصنا في أنفسنا من داخلنا، فكلما انتظرنا من الآخرين أن يكملوا نقصنا كلما زاد الخطر في العلاقة لذا فلابد أن نعطي الاهتمام الأكبر لما يمكننا إعطائه لمن نحبهم ونصادقهم وليس لما ننتظره منهم.
