- وما درايتك بذلك وأنت لم تنجبي ذكرا ولا أنثى؟!
أعرف أشياء، ومن يسترشد يجد من يرشده، ماذا أنت فاعل به؟
نصحوني بأن أذهب به إلى القسم.
هل يرضعونه فى القسم؟ لننتظر حتى يظهر من يبحث عنه.
لن يبحث عنه أحد..
وتجلي صمت مفعم بالانفعالات حتى تمتم الشيخ عفرة زيدان:
أليس من الخطأ أن نبقيه أكثر مما ينبغى؟
فقالت بحماسة وحرارة: الخطأ خطأ من ضيعه..
ثم قالت وهى تتلقى إلهاما بالرضا: لم يبق لى أمل فى الإنجاب!
فحسر العمامة عن جبهته البارزة مثل قبضة الجندرة وتساءل:
فيم تفكرين يا سكينة؟ فقالت ثملة بإلهامها: يا سيدنا الشيخ، وهبنى الله رزقا فكيف أرفضه؟
مسح بمنديله عينيه المطبقتين ولم ينبس، فقالت بظفر: أنت نفسك تريد ذلك: فتجاهلها يقول متشكيا: فاتتنى صلاة الفجر فى الحسين.
فقالت بثغر باسم وعيناها لا تفارقان الوجه المحتقن: الضوء شقشق والله غفور رحيم..
وقام الشيخ عفرة زيدان ليصلى على حين هبط من السلم درويش زيدان مثقل الجفون من أثر النوم وهو يقول: جوعان يا امرأة أخى..
ورأى الوليد فذهل كما ينبغى لغلام فى العاشرة من عمره وتساءل: ماهذا؟ فإجابته سكينة: رزق من الله العلى القدير.
فرنا إليه مليا ثم تساءل: ما اسمه؟ فترددت المرأة ثم غمغمت: ليكن اسم أبى اسما له، عاشور عبد الله، وليشمله الله ببركته ورضوانه..
وارتفع صوت الشيخ عفرة بالتلاوة.
