عندما كانت هذه الدِّراسة فى بدايتها؛ كنت أعتقد أنّها ستكون دراسة تشبه كل الدراسات الشعبية والفلكلورية الكثيرة فى الأمثال والأقوال الشعبية؛ لا تزيد سوى فى تعلّقها باليهود؛ ولكن ماذا لو أنّها لا تتعلّق باليهود فقط بل يهود مصر؟.. ماذا لو أضفنا لهذه الدراسة كل السَّرديَّات التى يمكن استحضارها عن اليهود المصريين.. هل قد تتغير قراءة تلك الأمثال؟
وهذا بالضبط ما حدث؛ تحوَّلت هذه الدراسة لسردية إجتماعية لصورة اليهود المصريين؛ فى عيون المصريين؛ طوال فترة زمنية تجاوزت المئتى عام؛ للحظة قد يعتقد القارىء أنّه كتاب عن الكراهية؛ ولكن فى قَلب هذه الكراهية؛ تظهر قناديل التسامح التى يوقدها مسلمون مصريين ويهود أيضًا؛ ثم تعود الكراهية للظهور من جديد... ثُم... ... ولكن!
