ولقد اجتذب نيتشه المفكرين العرب بدعوته إلى السمو بالحياة، ومناهضة القيم التي لم تعد، في نظره، متفقة مع أحوال العالم الحاضر، فاندفعوا نحوه معلنين ثورتهم على التقاليد والإنحطاط.
وهذا الكتاب يقدم تحليلاً للثورة على الانحطاط التي حمل لواءها نيتشه، وشرحاً لأسباب انتقال تلك الثورة إلى الفكر العربين وإقحام نيتشه فيها.
والدراسات التي يشتمل عليها الكتاب، والتي هي في الأصل بحوث ومحاضرات، موزعة على قسمين: القسم الأول يعرض حملة نيتشه على الفلاسفة المسؤولين، في نظره، على إشاعة قيم الإنحطاط، وأبرزهم سقراط، وأفلاطون، وكانط، وهيغل. أما القسم الثاني فيعرض لتأثير نيتشه على المفكرين العرب الذين اتخذوه كرمز للتحرر، كما يعرض للرافضين لفلسفته والساخطين عليه.
