جيفري باتريك كيني (بالإنجليزية: Jeffrey Patrick Kinney) هو مصمم ألعاب ورسام كارتون ومنتج أفلام وممثل وكاتب أمريكي، اشتهر بتأليفه لسلسلة روايات يوميات الفتى الجبان، كما أنه صاحب ومُنشئ موقع لو بن ر ولي ما الخاص بالأطفال، بالإضافة أنه ظهر في فيلم يوميات الفتى الجبان المبني على سلسلة رواياته. ولد جيف في 19 فبراير 1971 في فورت واشنطن بولاية ماريلاند في الولايات المتحدة. ارتاد جامعة ماريلاند في أوائل التسعينات، وهناك قام بخلق شخصية خيالية Igdoof وصار ينشرها في صحيفة الجامعة The Diamondback.
قد طُبع وبيع أكثر من 58 مليون نسخة من سلسلة الفتى الجبان في جميع أنحاء العالم في 2010 مما دفع منتجي الأفلام لتطوير فيلم مبني على الرواية، وقد شغل جيف منصب المنتج التنفيذي للفلم، وقام بالمشاركة كممثل في الجزء الثالث منه

لا تقتصر "مذكرات طالب رائع حقاً" على مذكّرات راولي جيفرسون بل تمتد لتشكل جزءاً كبيراً من "مذكّرات غريغ هيفلي" أيضاً، سيبدأ راولي بسرد سيرة حياة صديقه الحميم غريغ وسيخبرنا عن حياتهما معاً كولدين شقيين عاشا معاً مغامرات مخيفة ومقالب مضحكة، وأشياء عن عائلتيهما؛ وغير ذلك، عن ما ظناه "مخلوقاً نصفه إنسان ونصفه معزاة في الغابة"، وعن لحظات الرعب التي عاشاها في "مقبرة قديمة"، وقصة صفع راولي صديقه غريغ بمضرب التنس بعدما ظنه لصّاً خطيراً.
إلى جانب قصة إنقاذ راولي صديقه غريغ من "حفلة ذكرى ميلاد لاركين"، وهكذا يستمر راولي بسرد أحداث ذلك اليوم الذي ابتكر فيه غريغ جائزة من أجل صديقه راولي وسماها "جائزة الولد الشاطر"، وعن اليوم الذي اكتشف راولي أنّ غريغ شريك دراسة كسول عندما حوّل الدراسة إلى فكرة لعبة، وحوّل الامتحان إلى غش وفوضى.
وعن نجاحهما معاً في ابتكار رسماً لـ "بطلٍ خارقٍ" في المدرسة، وغير ذلك من الحكايات الطريفة والمذكرات الشيقة التي يدونها راولي في هذا الكتاب والتي أضاف إليها رسومات وأشكالا مضحكة سيعيش معها الأولاد لحظات قراءة لا تُنسى.
