لقد أثار هذا الكتاب منذ صدوره ولا يزال الكثير من الضجة والتعليقات ما بين الترحيب والحماس الشديد، وبين الهجوم الحاد على الكتاب وعلى مؤلفه.
يكفي أن نعلم أنه قد صدرت للكتاب ثماني طبعات في الفترة الأولى من إصداره، وهذه الترجمة التي نقدمها للقارئ العربي هي ترجمة الطبعة الثامنة الصادرة عام 1997.
