يأتي هذا الكتاب ليستفز حواس القارئ ليتعرف على وميض أقصر قالب شعري في العالم وهو شعر الهايكو الياباني الأصل، كجنس شعري انعطف بعيدا عن قيود بحور الشعر المتعارف عليها، حيث يعتمد هذا الفن الشعري على الومضة والتقاط اللحظة الزمنية العابرة، مرتكزا على أبرز خصائصه: الإيجاز، المشهدية، التنحي (إقصاء الذاتية قدر المستطاع)، الآنية، التكثيف اللغوي على شكل قصيدة قصيرة جدا لا تتجاوز بضعة أسطر محددة بقواعد مقطعية (17 مقطعا صوتيا يابانيا) تعتمد على لغة الحواس لوصف المشاهد الطبيعية، ثم الدهشة التي تهدف إلى إحداث صدمة فجائية لدى القارئ بنهاية نص الهايكو.
