شهدت ايران خلال القرن العشرين تحولات عميقة في بنيتها السياسية والاجتماعية والثقافية، أرتبطت بمحاولات الدولة الايرانية لبناء دولة حديثة قادرة على مواكبة التحولات التي شهدها العالم في تلك الفترة، وقد شكلت الثورة الدستورية عام 1906 نقطة تحول رئيسية في تاريخ ايران الحديث، اذ مثلت بداية انتقال البلاد من نظام الحكم التقليدي القائم على السلطة المطلقة الى محاولة اقامة نظام دستوري سعى الى تنظيم العلاقة بين السلطة والمجتمع.
