يتناول الكتاب التاريخ الاجتماعى لحرب اكتوبر 1973
بالرغم من مُضى 48 عامًا على حرب أكتوبر 1973، فإنها مازالت محفورة فى ذاكرة التاريخ العسكرى، ولعل الأجيال الجديدة من الشعب المصرى التى لم تعايش هذه الفترة بدءًا من هزيمة حرب 67 التى استولت فيها إسرائيل على شبه جزيرة سيناء بالكامل ورفعت أعلامها على الضفة الشرقية لقناة السويس وتوقفت حركة القناة الملاحية، والتى استمرت مدة ست سنوات.
■ صدر عن دار الكتب والوثائق القومية2019 كتاب «حرب أكتوبر والمجتمع المصرى»، للدكتورأحمد المتولى، ويتناول الكتاب دراسة اجتماعية لحرب أكتوبر تتناول شتى المجالات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والفنية، وتأثير الحرب على المجتمع المصرى. كما يتناول الكتاب عملية السلام المصرية الإسرائيلية كإحدى نتائج حرب أكتوبر، والموقف المجتمعى منها محليا وعربيا، وتأتى أهمية نشر هذه الدراسة وغيرها من الدراسات التى تتناول حرب أكتوبر، لتسهم فى الكشف عن الإنجازات التى حققها الجيش المصرى فى هذه الحرب، رغم الظروف الصعبة التى عملت فيها مصر وجيشها للاستعداد لهذه الحرب، بعد الانكسار الذى حدث فى يونيو 1967 بجانب القوى العظمى التى كان ينتظر منها المساعدة فى إعادة بناء قوة مصر العسكرية، واستطاعت مصر أن تنهض لمحو آثار الهزيمة، وفرضت على العدو حربًا لسنوات، لم تستنزف قواه فحسب، بل مكنت قواتنا المسلحة من إعداد أفرادها لخوض حرب كان النصر حليفاً لها وأجبرت إسرائيل على الدخول فى مفاوضات انتهت بتوقيع معاهدة السلام.
