في سرد يأبى أن يكون عادياً، تنسج رواية "حمزة" ملحمة إنسانية عميقة تتجاوز حدود الزمن والذكريات. إنها ليست مجرد قصة عن بطل مات في سبيل وطنه، بل هي رحلة إلى أعماق الصداقة التي لا تهزم، والحب الذي لا يذبل، والتضحية التي تظل خالدة في القلوب. تبدأ الحكاية من حيث ينتهي الأبطال، حيث يقف "علي" أمام مرآة ذكرياته، مستعداً ليوم تكريم صديقه ورفيق دربه "حمزة"، الشهيد الذي لم يغب قط عن الأذهان.
على لسان "علي"، وعبر عيني ابن الشهيد الصغير الذي يحمل اسم أبيه، تتكشف فصول حياة "حمزة". نغوص في طفولتهما وشبابهما، ونعيش شغفه بالكلية الحربية وحلمه بالشهادة. ولكن القدر لا يضع أمام "حمزة" عدواً واحداً، فإلى جانب الأعداء على أرض المعركة، يجد نفسه في مواجهة شرسة مع مرض السرطان اللعين، ليخوض معركة مزدوجة، يتسلح فيها بالإيمان والصبر والعزيمة. يمزج السرد ببراعة بين أحداث الماضي التي تحكي عن معارك "حمزة" العسكرية ومقاومته للمرض، وبين أحداث الحاضر التي يروي فيها "علي" القصة لابن صديقه، محاولاً إحياء ذكرى الأب البطل في وجدان طفله.
إنها رواية عن الإرادة التي تحطم المستحيل، وعن معنى أن تكون بطلاً في زمن تتعدد فيه الحروب. يلامس الكاتب بصدق مشاعر الحزن التي تخترق قلب الزوجة الشابة، والفخر الذي يملأ روح الصديق، والشوق الذي ينمو في قلب الطفل الذي لم يعرف والده. "حمزة" ليست قصة نهاية، بل هي قصة بداية، بداية لأسطورة تستمد قوتها من الوفاء والصداقة والتضحية، وتؤكد أن الأبطال الحقيقيين لا يموتون، بل يظلون شموساً تنير دروب الأجيال القادمة.
