يُعد هذا الكتاب رحلة إيمانية ونفسية تهدف إلى ترسيخ مفهوم "عدم الالتفات" كمنهج حياة متكامل؛ سواء كان الالتفات إلى ماضي الآلام، أو إلى نعم الآخرين، أو إلى القلق من المستقبل. يتناول الكتاب معالجة هذه القضايا عبر فصول مترابطة تجمع بين النصائح الوعظية والتحليل النفسي القائم على النصوص الشرعية.
يستعرض الكتاب عدة محاور رئيسية، أهمها:
الرضا والتسليم: معالجة مشاعر الحسد والمقارنة من خلال التذكير بنعم الله الخفية وعدل الميزان الإلهي.
العفة والمراقبة: الحديث عن "غض البصر" بمعناه الشامل (عن المحرمات وعن ما في أيدي الناس)، مستشهداً بقصص من السيرة مثل قصة عثمان بن طلحة، وقصة يوسف عليه السلام في مواجهة الفتنة والثبات أمام المغريات.
التعامل مع الماضي والأخطاء: دعوة لتجاوزه وعدم الوقوف طويلاً عند العثرات، مستلهماً العبر من سير الأنبياء والصحابة الذين حولوا المحن إلى منح ولم يلتفتوا للوراء.
اليقين والتوكل: مناقشة قضايا الرزق، والخوف من المستقبل، وفلسفة "المنع والعطاء"، مع التأكيد على أن ما فات الإنسان لم يكن له، وأن الخير قد يكمن فيما يكرهه.
قصص وعبر: يزخر الكتاب بقصص تراثية ذات دلالات عميقة، مثل قصة "صاحب الرغيف" وقصة "بائعة اللبن"، لتوضيح موازين الأعمال عند الله وأنها تختلف عن موازين البشر الظاهرية.
يختتم الكتاب برسالة طمأنينة حول "معية الله" التي تصاحب العبد في خلواته وحركاته، داعياً القارئ للمضي قدماً في طريق الله بقلب سليم لا يلتفت للمخاوف أو المعوقات.
