في نهايةِ القرنِ العاشِرِ ومَعَ بدايَةِ القرنِ الحادي عَشَرَ ميلادية، كانتِ الرِّياحُ تَعْبُرُ قَصَباتِ بَني زِيري في الأقطارِ الواسِعَة، كَمَن يُقلٍّبُ صَفحاتِ التّاريخِ، ليكتُبَ فصلًا جديدًا فوقَ بلادِ الجزائِر، التي عَرَفَتْ ممالِكَ عظيمَة، لكنّها لم تَعرِف بَعْدُ أُسرةً بعَظَمَةِ آلِ زيريّ الصّنهاجيّين. ومُنذُ أُسدِلَ السِّتارُ على أيّامِ الأميرِ المَنصورِ بنِ بُولُوغين بنِ زيري، والدُّنيا تَتَهَدَّجُ في ممالِكِ المغربِ الأوسطْ، تَرتَجِفُ بين يَدَي ابنِهِ باديس. هُنا، تُحوِّطُ بُطونُ زْناتَة الدَّولةَ مِن كلِّ جانِب، مُتَّخِذَةً أقاصيَ الأرض معاقِلَ لها. فَبَينَ بُنودٍ تَتَساقَطُ، ومُدُنٍ تَتَنازَعُ النَّفَس، يَتَشَكَّلُ للمنطِقةِ وَجهٌ آخَر، وَجهٌ هوَ حَجَرُ الأساسِ لِما آلَتْ إليهِ موازينُ القُوَى في هذِهِ البلاد مُنذُ ألفِ سَنَة خَلَت.
