ينطلق هذا الكتاب من وعيٍ نظري ومنهجي مفاده أن النهوض الحضاري لا يمكن أن يتم في معزل عن إصلاح عميق وشامل لمنظومة التعليم، باعتبارها الرافعة الأساس لإعادة بناء الدولة بعد الانهيار، ولترميم الذاكرة الجمعية بعد النكبة، ولإعادة تشكيل العلاقة بين الفرد والمجتمع على أسس جديدة تتجاوز منطق العنف والانقسام. وفي هذا السياق، تُعدّ التجربة الرواندية بعد الإبادة الجماعية التي شهدتها البلاد سنة 1994م، إحدى أبرز النماذج الإفريقية التي حاولت، في زمن قياسي، إعادة ترميم الدولة من تحت الأنقاض، وبناء مشروع وطني قوامه المصالحة والتنمية والعدالة.
