ربما يظن البعض أن موضوع الخوارج، وأخص به ( المحكِّمة الأولى) موضوع قديم ، قد استنزفته الكتب التاريخية. لكنني أقدم طرحا فيه من الجدّة ما يستحق أن يطلع عليه القارئ.
فما أقدمه هو قراءة مختلفة، سمحت بها الأخبار من نفس كتب التاريخ التي أنتجت الرواية الرسمية لكننا التقطنا منها الإشارات والمسكوت عنه وأقمنا منها بنية متماسكة للأحداث.
بينا فيه: أصل الخوارج قبل تسميتهم بذلك الاسم، ودورهم في حروب الردة، وموقفهم من الإمام عليّ قبل التحكيم ، ودور القبائل الكبيرة منهم ، والأسباب الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والسياسية التي أدت إلى الإجهاز عليهم، وقضية التحكيم ودور زعماء القبائل الكبيرة في الكوفة وخذلانهم للإمام، وحقيقة ابن ملجم ، وهل كان من الخوارج، وحادثة قتل ابن الأرت وزوجه، وهل كان ذلك بإجماع الخوارج.. وغير ذلك من المعلومات .
