تدور فكرة الكتاب حول عدد من الألفاظ التي تشتهر على اللسان العربي، والتي قد يظن البعض أنها جاءت في القرءان.
كما يتناول الكتاب ألفاظًا يستخدمها البعض في غير مواضعها.
من أمثلة ذلك لفظ : ( شيخة) وهو من الألفاظ التي لم تأتِ في القرءان؛ ثم يذكر المؤلف اللفظ الذي يُماثله من كتاب الله وهو لفظ: (عجوز).
يهدف المؤلف من ذلك إلى أن نكثر من استخدام ألفاظ القرءان مقارنة بغيرها من الألفاظ الأخرى في تعبيراتنا؛ فلا نهجر ألفاظه، وأن نستخدم كل لفظ حسب دلالته التي جاءت في كتاب الله.
وهو ما يُؤدي إلى دقة التعبير، وتيسير تدبر الناس لآيات القرءان، وفهم دلالاتها بإذن الله.
