تدور مسرحية "العكاز" حول صراع داخل عائلة جزائرية ثرية بين الأب (محمود) الذي يصر على زواج ابنه الطبيب (سفيان) وإدارته لمصنع العائلة، وابنِه الرافض لذلك لأنه يرغب في إكمال تخصصه الطبي. يتصاعد النزاع حين يهدد الأب بالزواج من امرأة ثانية لإنجاب المزيد من الأولاد، مما يزيد التوترات الأسرية، لينتهي الأمر ببقاء الصراع دون حل واضح، حيث يظل سفيان متمسكًا بحلمه العلمي بينما يحاول الأب فرض إرادته. تعكس المسرحية صراع الأجيال بين التقاليد والطموحات الفردية.
