سعينا من خلال مباحث هذا الكتاب إلى استكشاف معاني المقصدية ودورها الفاعل التّطبيقي والإجرائي في منظومة الخطاب، حيث تعتبر التداولية منهجًا معرفيًا يدرس اللّغة في سياقات استعمالها المتنوعة، متجاوزة بذلك الدّراسات التّقليديّة التي اقتصرت على الجانب البنائي للّغة، وقد أولت التداولية أهميّة قصوى للجانب الاستعمالي والوظيفي للّغة، ممّا جعل للمقصدية مكانة بارزة في فهم مقاصد المتحدّثين واستراتيجياتهم التّواصلية، فالمقصدية تُعدّ ركنًا أساسيًا في التّحليل التداولي للخطاب، حيث يتطلّب التّواصل الفعّال الكشف عن نوايا المتحاورين في ضوء السياقات المختلفة، كما يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى إبراز أهميّة المقصدية كآلية تداولية رئيسة في تحليل الخطابات وفق ما أتت به لسانيات النص، مؤكّدًا على اعتمادها الكبير على السياق كمحرّك أساسي لفهم المعاني، سواء كانت صريحة أو ضمنية.
