قسمت الفصل الاول إلى مبحثين: المبحث الاول حياته، اسمه، نشأته ولكنته، وقصة علاجه، وسكنه وعلمه وصفاته، ووفاته، والثاني شمل اثر الحياة السياسية والاجتماعية والثقافية فيه، أما الفصل الثاني فسمته إلى مبحثين ايضا ضم الاول أغراضه الشعرية، والثاني اثر القرآن الكريم في شعره، اما الفصل الثالث والاخير تناولت فيه صور البيان في شعر الاخرس وقد جعلته خمسة مباحث: الاول: مصطلح البيان لغة واصطلاحا عند البلاغين واقسامه، والثاني: بدأته بالفن الاول لعلم البيان وهو التشبيه من حيث تعريفه واقسامه عند البلاغين القدامى والمحدثين، مع امثلة من شعر الاخرس، والثالث: خصصته للمجاز وانواعه وصوره في شعر الاخرس، والرابع: يتعلق بالاستعارة وانواعها وصورها في شعر الاخرس، والخامس: خصصته للكناية والتعريض وانواعهما وصورهما في شعر الاخرس.
