يأتي اختيار الدكتور وجدان عبد الإله الصائغ... لشعر عمر أبي ريشة ميداناً للصورة البيانية منبثقاً من استقراءها لطبيعة شعره، فضلاً عن أن هذا الشاعر وكما تقول المؤلفة لم يلق ما يستحقه من الدراسة والاهتمام بما يتناسب ومكانته الشعرية المعتد بها في مضمار الشعر العربي الحديث، كما أن للباحثة شغفاً خاصاً بشعر هذا الشاعر عامة، واهتماماً بأسلوبه في صياغة شعره خاصة، هذا وقد بنت دراستها هذه على تمهيد وبابين اشتمل التمهيد على إلمامه بحياة الشاعر عمر أبي ريشة، عرضت لسيرة الشاعر في الحياة، إنساناً وشاعراً. كما تضمن تأصيلاً لمصطلح الصورة البيانية ليكون قاعدة الانطلاق في دراسة شعره بلاغياً.
كان عنوان الباب الأول: الصورة البيانية في المعيار البلاغي، وقد ضم ثلاثة فصول، أولها: الصورة التشبيهية القائمة على فن التشبيه بأنواعه المختلفة وانعكاسها على شعر أبي ريشة. والفصل الثاني: الصورة الاستعمارية كما رسمها عمر أبو ريشة، والفصل الثالث: الصورة الكنائية التي نسجها أبو ريشة من خلال شعره.
وقد بدا الباب الأول أقرب إلى الدرس البلاغي التراثي من الباب الثاني الموسوم "الصورة البيانية في المعيار النقدي" الذي انطوى على ثلاثة فصول أولها: الصورة الكلية والصورة الجزئية، وقد حدد مفهوم كل من الصورتين تحديداً علمياً وفنياً كان بمثابة المعيار في تحليل العشر ودراسته.
والفصل الثاني هو: الصورة الحسية والصورة الذهنية، وقد وقف هذا الفصل عند صوره التي تدرك بالحواس الخمس، وهي الصور البصرية والسمعية والشمية والذوقية واللمسية، وثمة الصورة الذهنية وهي التي تنأى عن تأثير الحواس الخمس بحيث تبدو معتمدة على معطيات ذهنية بحتة.
وأما الفصل الثالث والأخير من هذه الدراسة، فقد كان عنوانه: أبعاد الصورة البيانية، وقد اشتمل على الأبعاد الفكرية وقوامها الوطن والتراث والموت، والأبعاد العاطفية ومنطلقاتها الإحساس بالذات والمرأة والطبيعة والغربة. وأما منهج المؤلفة في هذه الدراسة فهو المنهج التحليلي القائم على اعتماد النماذج الشعرية الدالة لأبي ريشة على وفق معطيات الصورة البيانية واستبطانها.
