ماكس، ذلك الرجل الطموح والمتحمس للحياة، قرر الانتقال إلى بلدة أخرى ليعيش فيها ويبدأ بها مرحلة جديدة في حياته بعد تلك الأزمة الشديدة التي تعرض لها. منزل جديد رائع، يرتفع عاليًا فوق سفح التلال، وبلدة هادئة؛ بالنسبة له، لا يوجد أفضل من ذلك لبدء مغامرة جديدة. ولكن مع مرور الوقت، بدأت الأشياء المريبة تحدث بشكل غريب وغير مفهوم؛ حيث شعر بأن هناك شيئًا خطيرًا ومرعبًا يحدث. فقد بدأ يرى ظلالًا وخيالات، ويسمع أصواتًا تثير الفزع في قلبه، وتجلب الرعب إلى حياته. ومن هنا، بدأت الأمور تتعقد أكثر فأكثر، حتى أصبح ماكس يشعر بأنه يعيش داخل كابوس لا ينتهي، وأنه محاط بالشر المطلق. لم يبقَ لديه سوى مهمته الوحيدة، وهي العثور على الطريق للهروب من أبن الشيطان الذى عاد من جديد.
