ينطلق شاب شجاع بعد تلقيه المشورة من كبير الحكماء في رحلةٍ لتحرير مختطف تحت تأثير ظروف غامضة. هذهِ الرحلة تقوده إلى أرض (كراجيفة) المرعبة الغريبة التي يرى فيها العجائب من رعب وحقائق وخيال.
أثناء الرحلة وكالعادة يظهر الطامعون في الحكم، ويحدثُ الصراع، فتسيل الدماء.
يجد الشابُ نفسه مخيرا بينَ عدةِ أمور منها التضحية بنفسه، وأي تضحية! لن تخطر على بال القارئ مهما خمن وتوقع.وقبيل النهاية تكون المفاجأة الأخرى التي لم تكن في الحسبان.
