الجريمة والعقاب هي رواية للكاتب الروسي فيودور دوستويفسكي . تم نشرها لأول مرة في المجلة الأدبية الرسول الروسي في اثني عشر جزء شهريًا خلال عام 1866. وتم نشرها لاحقًا في مجلد واحد. إنها الثانية من روايات دوستويفسكي الكاملة بعد عودته من منفاه لعشر سنوات في سيبيريا . تعتبر الجريمة والعقاب أول رواية عظيمة في فترة نضجه في الكتابة وغالبًا ما يُستشهد بها كواحدة من أعظم أعمال الأدب العالمي .
الجريمة والعقاب يتبع الألم العقلي والمعضلات الأخلاقية لروديون راسكولنيكوف ، وهو طالب سابق فقير في سانت بطرسبرج يخطط لقتل سمسارة ربا عديمة الضمير، وهي امرأة عجوز تخزن الأموال والأشياء الثمينة في شقتها. ويفترض أنه بالمال يمكنه تحرير نفسه من الفقر والاستمرار في أداء أعمال عظيمة، ويسعى إلى إقناع نفسه بأن بعض الجرائم مبررة إذا تم ارتكابها من أجل إزالة العقبات التي تحول دون تحقيق الأهداف العليا للرجال "الاستثنائيين". ومع ذلك، بمجرد الانتهاء من الفعل، يجد نفسه ممزقًا بالارتباك والبارانويا والاشمئزاز. لتفقد مبرراته النظرية كل قوتها عندما يكافح الشعور بالذنب والرعب ويواجه العواقب الداخلية والخارجية لفعله.
