هذا الكتاب هو الأول من نوعه، في العالم العربي، الموجه خاصة لنوعية من المتعليمن أصبحت واسعة الانتشار في العالم العربي ممن يصنفون بوصفهم "وارثي اللغة في العالم العربي" وهم الطلاب ذوو الأصول العربية الذين يمتلكون لهجة عربية ما، ولكنهم لم يستكملوا اكتساب الفصحى بسبب التعليم الأجنبي في عالمنا العربي. والكتاب يخاطب هؤلاء الطلاب عند المستوى المبتدئ والمتوسط، وصُمِّمَ ليكون مناسبًا أيضًا لمتعلمي العربية من غير الناطقين بها عند المستويين المتوسط والمتقدم وفقًا لمعايير ACTFL. ويخصص المجلد الثاني (قيد النشر) للمستوى الثالث من وارثي اللغة، وهو يقابل المستوى المتفوق من متعلمي العربية من غير الناطقين
