تعرِض الكاتبة لمعاناة الأخيذة المغلوبة على أمرها خلال السنوات السبع التي أمضتها في سجنها الذهبيّ-القصر المعزول المخصّص لها، هي وابنتها(رهَف) التي أنجبتها من أحد الذئبين البشريين- السمسار أو الأمير- وكذلك الخادمة والحارس، إلى أنْ تتهيّأ لها فرصة الفرار من هذا الجحيم الأرضي والعودة إلى مصر مستفيدة من اضطراب الأمور والتدهور الأمنيّ إثر موجة من الاحتجاجات الشعبية العنيفة التي اجتاحتْ حينَها " مملكة الأسودين".
وتكتمل فصول المأساة بعد أن حاولتْ هالة، إثرَ عودتها إلى مصر، الثأر لشرفها وكرامتها والتّعرّف على الأب الفعليّ لابنتها رَهف بمساعدة ابن خالتها المحامي( أدهم) والصحفية والناشطةالحقوقية( راوية الراوي).
