بديات أو طوبا، هي لهجة من لغة الزغاوة (لغة نيلية صحراوية) وجدت في تشاد وغرب السودان، على عكس أقاربهم من الزغاوة، فإن المتحدثين في بدايات هم أكثر بدوية، قاد هذا الاختلاف علماء الإثنوغرافيا الأوائل إلى الإشارة إليهم كمجموعات مختلفة حتى أثبتت أوجه التشابه اللغوي علاقتهم الوثيقة.
