درجٌ بعد درج وسلالم لولبية تنبض برطوبة الحجر القديم حتى بلغوا دهاليز السجن حيث لا يصل صوت النهار ولا يعرف القمر طريقه .
قيدوا يديه بحلقات من حديد و قدميه بالكرات الحديدية في زنزانة ضيقة لا تكفي أن يمدّ فيها قدميه كان صامتًا كأن قلبه دخل في هدنة مع الزمن لا يسأل لا يحتج بل يهمس في داخله : "إن ضاق القبر وسعته رحمة الله فكيف لا أحتمل سجنًا بناه بشر ؟"
