يعرض فيها المؤلِّف للعديد من الموضوعات المُتعلقة بالظواهر الطبيعية المُختلفة في الأرض وفي السماء يبدأ بالتفرقة بين معنى البحر والبر في اللغة، مُستشهدًا بآيات قرآنية وأحاديث نبوية، ثم يفصل الحديث عن البحار المعروفة: بحر الهند الذي يُقال له بحر الصين، وبحر المغرب، وبحر الشام والروم، وبحر بُنْطُش، وبحر جرجان، ثم يطوف في عالم الأفلاك وتأثيراتها على الأرض وظاهراتها، ويتخلَّل هذا كله قصص غريبة وأحداث عجيبة. وعندما يتحدَّث عن أسباب المد والجزر يُفند ما قاله أرسطو وغيره من الفلاسفة من أن علَّة ذلك هي الشمس وتأثير الرياح.
